About the Works
“The Family Drama” continues Kat Mustatea’s sonic-gestural experiments with BodyMouth, a novel instrument that augments the body to allow dancers to speak via gesture, using body-worn sensors and real-time speech synthesis. This new work with the instrument, comprising installation and live performance, investigates the intimacy and mechanics of a voice, and the politics and emotional undercurrents of what we choose to pass over in silence.
Future Site Failure by Sawyer Adler is a comic opera about a man who wants nothing more than the respect of his parents. In attempting to acquire it, he unknowingly unleashes global technological change that could hardly have been predicted. Collaborating artist: Jonathan Mizrahi
About the Artists
Kat Mustatea is a transmedia playwright and artist whose experiments with language, live art, and the computational uncanny articulate the absurdities of being human in an increasingly algorithmic world.
Sawyer Adler is an English composer, multimedia artist, and PhD candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center. His work focuses on the modernization of classical and operatic forms for contemporary media.
