About the Works

Paul Pinto // Recap Percussion // Mantra Percussion: Three nights. Three different etudes for percussion, electronics and media from Pinto's ongoing project about American identity, Estebanico.

still, life by slowdanger is a movement, live sound, and object performance installation that stages the body as a shifting sculptural instrument. Referencing M.C. Escher's 1934 lithograph Still Life with Mirror, the work examines simultaneous conflicting realities, questioning the body's ontological relationship to decay, labor, power systems, and the environment. Enmeshed sonic and physical actions highlight the body’s changing relationship to weight, stability, and orientation, asking: how do eras of collapse generate new mythologies?
