About the Works
boys will be by LBFG is a transerotic choreopoem examining strength-training, power-building, and movement-making through martial arts and politicized somatics disciplines in a physical theater performance context. This work contends with how the trans/migrant body wields and yields power with/in dominant ideologies of race, gender, and ability, embracing cross-cultural solidarity and militancy.
MOIRAI by Luisa Muhr & Carole Kim is a site-specific immersive performance installation inspired by the sisters Clotho (The Spinner), Lachesis (The Measurer), and Atropos (The Cutter) – the Moirai (Fates) – in Greek Mythology. Together, the two artists will create a landscape in which sound, movement, imagery, and light become intertwined, underlining the ephemerality and mutability of our perception of time.
About the Artists
LBFG (Lesbian Boyfriend Faggot Girlfriend) is the emerging performance-duo, featuring alyxåndra ciale and Shannon Yu, using martial arts and politicized somatics to build collective capacity for change.
A collaboration between interdisciplinary artists Luisa Muhr (voice, movement, graphic score; NY) and Carole Kim (live visual installation, sound objects; CA) invariably creates a dynamic interplay between sound, image, body and space.
