About the Works
Tansy Xiao’s Glottogenesis is a spoken-word interactive XR opera. Performers and audiences will collaboratively use language and vocalization to evoke, shape, and modulate elements within a virtual realm. (Soprano: Britt Hewitt | Mezzo-soprano: Rocky Duval)
Theorem (WIP) continues Kat Mustatea’s sonic-gestural experiments with BodyMouth, a novel instrument that turns the body quite literally into a mouth. This work investigates the power and precarity of having a voice, in times when it is dangerous to say certain things out loud.
Cole Blouin and Raymond Pinto will present Tidal Reconstruction, a sequence of ritualized actions, charged with sensory intensity and slippery meaning, understood as acts of will in defiance of a murky and uncertain future.
About the Artists
Tansy Xiao is an interdisciplinary artist who creates theatrical installations with non-linear narratives through collaborations with human participants, technological systems, and non-anthropogenic organisms.
Kat Mustatea is a transmedia playwright and artist whose experiments with language, live art, and the computational uncanny articulate the absurdities of being human in an increasingly algorithmic world.
Cole Blouin is a Manhattan-based sonic artist interested in memory, materiality, signification, and impossibly large narrative structures.
Raymond Pinto is an interdisciplinary artist whose process-based practice moves through abstraction and improvisational modalities to create work rooted in embodied exploration and continual transformation.
